I know I'm going to get some flack for this and that's ok..after doing Ed Moore's Recipe STRICTLY TO HIS INSTRUCTIONS my carb on the right side would foul a plug in 5 minutes. Finally I called Sportland II in Oak Creek, Wi. (near where I live) and got to talk with a mechanic. He told me that what everyone has been calling a mixture screw is in fact NOT a gas/air mixture screw, it is a screw that configures the gas/air mixture. When the screw is turned "in', the gas going into the cylinder becomes a "stream"....when the screw is turned "out" the gas going into the carb becomes more of a mist the more you turn the screw "out". First of all MAKE SURE YOUR FLOATS ARE SET RIGHT....error on the lean side and if your bike "pops" it is because the floats are too low. Turn out the gas/air screw 2 (TWO) full turns. Be sure you have good or new plugs in the bike. My CB77 goes like a bat out of hell and the plugs are a nice tan color and idles like a sewing machine. Call me crazy....but quit beating youself up and try it...IT WORKS!!!!! But follow Ed Moore's Recipe first IT IS GOSPAL...adjust the floats then turn you gas/air screw out 2 (TWO) full turns and enjoy your ride.
