ITS Alive!!!!!!!!!!! WOW......running off choke.........had the idle screw in to far! Just hit the button and WHAM! Starts on first kick as-well! Amazing how Honda's will come back from the grave and run, without having to be rebuilt! This eng hasn't ran since 1980!

Here are the 2 compared:

The one with the chopped off end is the idle air screw and goes in the front (engine side) of the carb. Some versions have an o-ring, and some don't.

The rounded one is the idle speed screw that adjusts where the slide stops. It goes in the hole toward the rear.

Carb idle mix adjustment...

Post by rzgkane » Mon Mar 05, 2012 9:35 pm

I usually adjust idle mixture by sound whereby I richen the mixture slowly until I get the highest idle speed I can and just before the motor starts sounding, for lack of a better term, lopey. Is that pretty much the method with these old things?

I know it's a crude method but it's always served me well.
