carb problems

Thanks for the information about the carb bowl spigots, I had been searching for something on those. The two small pipes and Y piece are described as "air vents" and they are in the head not the crankcase, I wonder what exactly they do? Anyway they should got to the aircleaner not the carb bowls.

Those vents lead directly to the inlet valve guides in an attempt to reduce any oils being pulled into the engine on overrun from the head. Later deemed unnecessary and deleted.

You can safely run a pipe from one to the other.

Those breather tubes have nothing to do with how your bike runs. It is purely a coincidence.

My guess is your petcock is not flowing sufficient fuel or you have some other restriction that has either cleared or will show back up when you take the bike for a ride and it starves again.
