Do Not Remove the Jet Holder.
Just the Jet.
Lee shows what ya need to see.
Easier to do if ya have carb on it's side. ........lm

im afraid that the floats are too low...

i am judging by horizon at the base of the carburetor. where the gasket lies. I make that as straight as possible and then look to see if the main jet housing is in view... or am i suppose to judge at the top of the floats??

thanks
Marlin,
Remove the brass jet holder and the bottom (top as viewed in your pic) of the float should be level with the stub of the carb body that it screws in to, with the float tang just touching, but not depressing the float valve piston.
That should make the distance from the gasket surface to the bottom of the float 22.5 mm.
Sorry, Marlin......I was going by memory and it is shot!
Thanks to LM for straightening it out.

Loud Mouse,

A little FYI:

I got ahold of some micrometers to measure the distance from the bowl gasket to the bottom of the floats. I measured the distance that was used in figure 1 as you suggested and they measured 27.08. It was way to high. So I brought them down and measure them to 22.5 exactly.

Thanks for the tip, but i am almost certain that eye balling at the top of the float is incorrect. If any, it would be position 2.

Thanks brewsky for the input, it is appreciated as well.

Not sure what "position 2" is from the drawing, so I modified it for clarification of correct measurement.

You can count on LM's info being correct.

One good thing about this forum is ya can do anything ya like.
I'm sure ya aren't aware of this.
At present there are lots of CB/CL77 engines out there running well with what I offered ya.
Do as ya like. .......lm

Position 2 is of no value.

The measurement is from the TOP of the carb body, not the "gasket surface." This is shown clearly in the official shop manual. As it pertains to the diagram Lee posted, the measurement would be to the extreme outer surface of the carb body ABOVE the notch. Makes a little difference, maybe 2mm?
