air/fuel adj.

Brewsky.....my 305 will only run if the air/fuel screw is just cracked open from seating. If i go any more turns out.....it dies when i take it off choke. Does this mean the air/fuel screw is worn out or what?

Sounds like slow jet or slow jet passages in carb may be partially blocked..........or......maybe wrong screw in wrong hole?

Hummmmm.....ok, the air/ful screw has the round end and, the idle one had the blunt end...correct? I have the round end toward the back of the motor and the blunt end near the front of it.....

Sounds like you are saying it both ways here?

Study the pics in the previous page of this post.

The screw with the chopped off end is the air/fuel mix screw and goes in the carb at the front end (closest to the engine).

The rounded screw is the idle speed screw and goes in the middle of the carb and adjusts the resting place of the slide.

Screw the mix screw in all the way (lightly) and back it out about 1 to 1 1/4 turns.

If it doesn't run at all that setting, something else is wrong.
