No. Look at the pic Gun. ......lm

THEN if you depress the float all the way to the carb body (without bending of course) the measurement from the notched lip of the carb body to the floats bottom should be 22.5 mm on a cb77 with square bowls?
sorry, i'm just trying to pinpoint my slow throttle response issue.
sure as day might have to do with my throttle cable instead, but I'm going to buy two new carbkits, replace jets and gaskets (bowls still leaking gas) before I make that assumption.

Well i set it up so that just as I could see the mainjet holder the tang was just barely touching that needle, but at that point, with the carbs upsidedown, if i let go of the float the tang would depress the needle and the float would move towards the carb as i don't see anyway to set the float so that is where it 'bottoms out' or tops out, as it were. I guess I'm not even sure if i SHOULD be concerned where the float tops out or just with the tang/float relation.
A basic mechanical class or an upbringing around engines would be very useful about now.

The weight will depress the needle. So adjust the tang so it is JUST TOUCHING the needle and you can see the end of the main jet holder. Of course you will need to hold things still as you bend the tang either way for the float to be adjusted as the pic shows. ............lm

gotchya. just wasn't sure if i was supposed to be concerned with where it was toping out at.

well I guess i'll try two carb kits and see if it's worn down needles and shotty gaskets that are my problem.
I have a suspicion that there is something fishy with my throttle cable itself or at least how the slides come down in the carbs after i give it some action.

I took the filters off and checked the slides... and they ain't sliding. they stick in the up position sometimes and then snap back down if i play with the throttle a bit. so i took the carbs off and saw that the springs weren't sitting right (what i assume is right) fitting over the tabs at the top of the carb assembly. so i fit them over the tabs, and now i'm wondering if there is anything I can do to make those slides SLIDE or should i slap the carbs back on and give it a go?

Use your finger nail at the cut out and you can feel if the slide moves OK. NO if you have the cable in the carbs turn the grip. ...............lm

alright, so don't use the throttle grip to test if the slides are going smoothly with the bike off?

lefthand carb slide seems to be sticking (opposite side of points, i'm not sure what is considered left or right).
When i moved the slide up and down with my finger nail it occasionally stuck.
It ran for a bit just fine after I did the spring adjustment, but while I was tuning it, the throttle issue came up again.
any suggestions?
(read: new carbs haha)
