excited. got bike running. runs wide open. help pleaseexcited. got bike running. runs wide open. help pleasecleaned carb and petcock. got bike to crank but had to quickly turn off due to the fact that the bike went wide open quickly.....very quickly. i have cable routed around tree and into oval hole on left side of bike. then inside frame straight to carb. what angle should the elbow at throttle grip be? it appears to be at about at the 8 o clock position now. not sure why it is revving so high so fast....within seconds. im sure it has to do with cable entering into carb. oh 61 dream
Re: excited. got bike running. runs wide open. help pleaseLook into the carb and ya will more than likely see the slide isn't at bottom.
Get the slide to the bottom. .........lm
took carb off and cable out and reinstalled. seems to be better now but i noticed after turning petcock to reserve, within a few seconds fuel over flow is comeing from carb..............appears to be coming from what i wld assume is overflow brass tube and also seems to be draining somewhere else too. this is whether bike is running or simply sitting and not running...............even before cranking. one more question................are the 4 sleeves that go into exhaust all suppose to be same size..........one is deeper, therefore, when inserted, it sticks out further than the other...yes they are all the way in. this makes for a bit of oil coming out of that exhaust connection, i think. thanks so much for the help. enjoying this lil bike. can wait to get the snags out of it.
Sounds like: 1. Stuck float 2. Sinking float (has hole in it) 3. Improperly adjusted float 4. Stuck needle or junk in the seat that shuts off the fuel flow into the carb bowl.
The float isn't set correctly or hanging on the bowl gasket.
Quick check is to bend the bulbs toward the center a bit. All 4 must be the same and oil should never come out the exhaust. How are the copper colored seals? .......lm
float appeared to be fine when i took apart and cleaned. i saw in another forum where the floats should be almost level with a screw. mine seemed just a hair under. i guess ill take carb back off and check float, gasket, look for pin holes, etc. i thought the same about exhaust. i know the left side isnt sealed good because of the wider sleeve. it keeps me from tightening exhaust. however, is does appear that oil slung from the exhaust connection there. i was on other side of bike, didnt notice til i shut it down. had tiny splatters on back of front fender and on starter.etc. hasnt ran since 1970, doers appear to smoke just a bit..........blue smoke...........so, looks like i could have to tear it down at some point.
oh, copper colored seals? haven't seen those............lol . are they supposed to be around exhaust? Got a pic? hey, im use to muscle cars............the lil bike is new to me but can't seem to walk away from it. copper gasketsfound illustration of copper gaskets. maybe ebay will have them................no honda dealership for 2oo miles ............unless someone has a pair they would sell.
