I'm probably one of the few on this forum who will say it as it is and if to ya it is "discouraging suggestions" then that's what it is.
Take the time to look at All the Questions, Problems ya have asked and Replies we have offered ya and That Bike Still Has Problems!
Ya want to learn?
Then Go back To The Start and read your questions and our replies.
Ya are a good feller but ya are Exorcizing this Forum and in My Opinion Not Learning Anything other than to ASK! ASK! ASK!
Just look at the response ya received this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least ya kept it to ONE Subject Area. .........lm

I appreciate your concern about my ability to diagnose a problem and am happy to admit that I am learning... I believe you may have forgotten what its like to be in the early education stages of working on bikes - you have no idea whats going on until you learn through experience/convestaion. Im not discouraged at all by this, I just want to understand it to be honest. I appreciate your (and everyone elses) assistance upto this point but regardless of suggestions to consider a mechanic, I will decline to do so as I would much rather learn from this than to pass it off and never understand it.

The first thing I intend on looking at for spark/ignition is to identify if I have some sort of issue with the left plug wire as the right is getting spark but the left isnt... After that, I will take it in stride. Thats the plan, may seem pretty modest in your eyes but its just the nature of learning... Take it one thing at a time and try to make progress towards getting it right.

Anyways, I dont mean to come across as harsh but I am uninterested in , I would much rather have a discouraging situation that I work through myself than to have others suggest that I send it out for work as its just not what the whole build is about for me.

Ya have been working on this engine problem for a long time and I have offered (so have others) ya the best tuning information ya can get without US HAVING THE BIKE IN FRONT OF US.
That said ya constantly have tuning problems over and over and to me it seams ya don't really take the time to diagnose the problem and find the fault. (point taken below)
I've told ya (phone conversation) that engines operate with GAS, COMPRESSION AND IGNITION and all MUST BE CORRECT.
I now ask what are ya going to look at to cure the lack of SPARK/IGNITION?
Never mind the Lack of Fuel at this time.........lm

With all due respect, isn't doing it yourself and learning what forums like this exist for!?
I appreciate the suggestion but thats not why I am building it myself, I want to learn and continue to appreciate/understand the bike more and more.

On a lighter note, I have identified the issue that causes the bike to idle when leaned right, the right cylinder is firing, the left is not. I checked for spark on the left plug and alas there is NO spark so I have a problem with wiring that I need to sort out... Thats where I stand now.

it would make sense that its not getting enough fuel as there isnt enough suction caused by the lack of one of the clyinders firing.. its turning over, just not igniting becuase of the lack of spark.

No bar turning (keeping them straight through this whole process).

Anyone else!?
Dana01 wrote:Assuming the lean to left/right is not accompanied by bar turning (which could point to a cable routing/pinching issue), is it possible there's a hairline crack in one of the carb castings (the right carb?) allowing fuel to go from where it's supposed to be, to where it's not, when the bike is leaned over???

Just brainstorming ....

Thanks LM, YOu can really be big help. 8-)

Sasha, You will get it eventualy if you keep trying at it. But educate with some reasearch on engine theory and such. Their all combustion engines and they all have very simular princible functions. Here is a short video of my bike if you can view it on facebook. After checking the carb and trouble shooting, it dosn't run to bad. and 45 years later, No smoke! Sweet! 8-)

So, contrary to the popular sentiment... I fixed it my issues (without going to a mechanic) and took her for a few rips over the past week.

She is running better than I could have asked for with the exception of one issue... There seems to be an issue in 2nd gear whereby it feels like its engaging the gear and then it loses power in that gear or slips and then again gains power and continues until I get her upto speed in 2nd.

Thoughts on this?

And for all you non-believers... my persistence just disproved your lack of patience.

I had the same problem. Try pulling the low speed idel jet. Look through it and see if you see light. Than look through the hole it goes intoand again see if you see light. If not I would take a piece of thin wire (like from a wire brush) and run it throuh both the jet and the hole it screws into. Also see if the small itake air hole on the side of the carb is clear. I would also run that wire through all the orifices all around the carb. You might also double up the wire or even twist it. BE METICULOUS!!!!!
Examined everything. Don't assume anything is right. Compare all parts to each other. Make sure eveything is the same on both carbs.

GOOD LUCK
