Carb Rebuild - putting back together. As you look at the side of the carb with screws, one on the left (angled) is air idle mixture. The one on the right is the idle speed screw. Left screw..screw in till lightly seated, then back out 1 1/2 turns Right screw does essentially the same thing as opening the throttle (actually sets how open it is when the hand throttle is closed) Turn it in while observing the slide, and stop just when you can see the slide starting to move up. Make sure you have the carb float set to 26.5mm before you re-install carb. This applies to CA models with single carb. 66 dream, 78 cb750k, 02fz1, 09 wing
brewsky, are you suggesting that you adjust the carbs without the air intake hose on so we can see the inside of the carb? also, you are referring to the needle slide ? No...just referring to the initial setting to start with,.....I do this before even putting the carb back on after cleaning. Carb adjustment should be done with the engine up to operating temp and air cleaner attached. Yes, I am referring to the slide...it's hard to see when the air cleaner is attached, so I adjust it before installation
