Carb rod adjustments..how?

Post by red75ride » Wed Apr 16, 2008 1:50 pm

I've read that if my CB77 is running rich I might want to raise the rod in the carb...do I have to do the same to the other as well? How does one go about raising the rod and do I have to remove the tank or maybe the carb itself? Thanks, Larry

The tank needs to be removed to access the slides.

Remove the cable by compressing the spring with your fingers and remove the cable through the slot. You'll see the keeper for the needle where the spring was. Use a pick tool or just a slight push up on the needle will dis-engage it. Adjust the needle by moving the E clip to the desired location.

Raising the needle in the slide will enrichen the mixture (more fuel delivered sooner). Lowering the needle leans it out.

Sounds like you need to lower the needle to go in the direction you want.
