Thanks for clarification Neil (HTH - understand now!). My brother rebuilt the carb, a very competent mechanic, but things happen, we will pull the carb and have a look. I thought there would be a metric or standard voltage as a baseline...the bike def charges (v rises with revs), and it may be total...

thanks for the clear explanation Brewsky, makes sense. Will do some testing today. My 16 year old is doing most of the wrenching on the bike to learn (and of course me too!). Then he'll get it when he gets a moto license... Thank you Chuck

Thanks HTH, I did some brushing up on rectifiers vs. regulators (I just replaced my diode board, rotor and regulator on my BMW R75/5 to fix a charging issue) - and believe I understand the functions. Hi, again. I've been searching the site (and the general internet) and can't seem to find this info relating to my 64 CA72. 1. Hi - Just got my first Honda, a '64 CA72 - with a newly rebuilt carb, runs pretty good and idles great. Here's a few basic carb questions: - is choke OFF with the lever in the DOWN position?
