Yes. I had to drill and tap it for an M6 bolt.

It appears to be a 4MM bolt. My thoughts were to chase the nut with a M4 tap and if I can't get enough bite after that I would drill and tap for a 5 MM bolt.

For information sake, prior to posting my original question on this post I had ordered new throttle slides (long and short). Thank you for the advice! I can't imagine riding this bike with any faith that I have control over the throttle as one should. It certainly is a bad design. I looked on eBay and saw some cables. Not quite sure what the throttle grip should entail. I can see how the cable attaches to it but I didn't ...

Thank you, Seadog! That picture helps a ton as far as where that spring needs to be. Yes, I do have the small holder in place. At least I believe so. It sits in line, in front of, the longer holder that spirals into the grip.
