Spark Plugs '66 CB77 Superhawk

I have seen posts on here about the correct spark plug size and gap.

On the NGK search site, it lists the proper plug to use is D8HA gapped at .028

Everything else on here says NGK D8HS gapped at .018

Which is correct?

Re: Carbs possessed

LM and MAtt - Thanks for all your help. I will be trying this tomorrow after work. I will be letting the fuel fill up the float bowls with it uncliped for a second and then try it. We will see what happens.

It is still fairly warm here in Milwaukee, WI. And hte bike is stored in the garag...

Re: Carbs possessed

I posted elsewhere on this site about starting the bike.

My slides are now in correctly (V's towards the air filter) and the carbs are cleaned.

My bike now takes forever to start. It useed to start up right away (first 2-3 tries) and now I have to kick it for about 15 minutes...

Re: Carbs possessed

That sounds like what happened to mine. The slides were in backwards and the idle was crazy high.

With mine, I have to adjust the idle mixture screws when the bike is hot. When it is cold, I have to turn them in half a turn and then back out the half a turn when the bike is hot so it doe...

Re: starting the bike

Oh, and the points were cleaned and replaced. They looked as if it was just put in.

A rear tail light switch was put on by the foot break. There was not one on the bike when I got it.

I replaced the battery. Apparently, one of the cells was bad.

Basically what they...

starting the bike

I recently purchased a 1966 CB77 305 Superhawk from someone. I should preface that I am new to motorcycles, but am really enthusiatic about learning. Now to the point:

When I first got the bike, it seemed to run great. It started up immediately with the electric start. Usually within the ...
